First Monday Trade Days may be a well-known event in East Texas, but that doesn't stop hundreds of people traveling to this city Canton for four days every month.  canton tx  from Thursday through Saturday, prior to the first Monday every month hundreds of vendors have set up shop for shoppers with hundreds of choices.



What began more than a century ago as an outdoor market has evolved into home to some of the most modern, exciting furniture, antiques, and collectibles to be found almost anywhere. Over the last 150 years, many things have changed in what was once the Original First Monday Park; however, the authentic, home-grown interpersonal relationships between vendors and buyers is the reason that people come back year after year.

According the site of First Monday Trade Days website, it is the oldest and biggest continuous outdoor flea fair across the United States.


According to the people in those who trade on market sites, concept for First Monday Trade Days started in the early 1850's, when the circuit judge was able to drive to Canton on the 1st Monday of each month. People from all across the county would visit the city to participate in their court proceedings. In the past, residents brought their own items, whether it be produce, livestock as well as other objects of origin, to trade or sell. In 1965, First Monday outgrew the town's Town Square so it was moved to its present area. The rest is history...


First Monday Trade Days is comprised of a range of private sellers . Therefore, the chances are that, regardless of how many times you go, you'll never truly see it all. The flea market is set on numerous acres, with more than 700,00 square feet of space for shopping.


Participating in First Monday is free, however the majority parking garages that surround the trade areas charge $5 for parking
